Use the same checklist for every quote
A comparison works when the scope is comparable. If a provider says an item isn’t needed, ask them to confirm that before marking it as clear. Keep the quote and any clarification together.
For a diagnostic visit, the initial scope can be limited to assessment. Ask how the repair will be quoted afterwards. For replacement, confirm the final installed amount and any rebate assumptions before booking.
